Wild about Teaching Strategies!
ED 307, Teaching Strategies for the Digital Age, took us on a “safari!” This adventure brought to life the qualities and characteristics of an effective teacher and teaching strategies that will empower our digital-age students. The partnering pedagogies that were witnessed along the way were:
- Flipped Classroom
- Action Learning
- Case Based Learning
- Challenge Based Learning
- Community Service Learning
- Discovery Learning
- Field Based Learning
- Global Collaboration Project
- Guided Discover
- Inquiry Based Learning
- Place Based Learning
- Problem Based Learning
- Process-Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning
- Project Based Learning
- Team Based Learning
Along the way, I witnessed Inquiry Based Learning, Community Service Learning, Project Based Learning, Guided Discovery, and Problem Based Learning. After observing, each partnering approach seemed to have similarities. They all reflected constructivism. Each one considered the teacher role as being a guide, facilitator, and questioner, and the student role as “learning by doing.”
This exploration led to the knowledge of partnering, tech tools to use, understanding our digital generation students, and what creates effective teachers.
